gcc 2.95.3
configure works fine
Makefile in the apps directory (/tmp/net-snmp-
5.0.1/apps) fails with the following error:

make: Fatal error in reader: Makefile line 203: Macro 
assignment on dependency line

Current working directory (listed above)

Error code 1

make: Fatal error: Command failed for target 'subdirs'

There's a bogus trailing slash at the end of the
definition of INSTALLBINPROGS (line 101 of Makefile,
and line 27 of Makefile.in) which is confusing
Sun's make program.
  Deleting this allows the compilation to succeed.
This has been fixed for the next release.
