Which version of nano? Self-compiled nano? On what platform?
How do you invoke nano? Please give an example of an actual command
that you typed to start nano.
What is the output of 'alias | grep nano'?
Is the filesystem that you want to edit a file on readable?
When you type something into a blank buffer, can you save it with
^O somename <Enter>?
