Oh, it's been around for a while: I had a similar problem back in May
and I couldn't find the solution either. My post's subject is "Loss of
Connectivity with Switch". Hika vam den Hoven pointed me to the
"Mythbuntu 16.04 - Screen Blanking, won't wake up" thread, to which I
solved my problem with (extracted from my notes):

This also affects me on Mythbuntu 14.04 x86 64bit with the open radeon
driver and ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4250] graphics controller.
The workaround for me was to disable xfsettingsd in the GUI Settings
under "Session and Startup":
1) In the "Application Autostart" tab I unticked xfsettingsd.
2) In the "Session" tab I selected xfsettingsd and clicked "Quit Program".

Thanks for all the suggestions. Killing the xfsettingsd process, as
David suggested, seems to have resolved the problem, now the HDMI signal
is not lost after power-cycling the TV.

1) In the "Application Autostart" I unticked xfsettingsd.
2) In the "Session" tab I selected xfsettingsd and clicked "Quit Program".

So, turn off xfsettingsd and your problem should go away! :)
