Can you please fix your channel icons as a first step.  In the past, 
telling MythTV you have a channel icon that you don't have has had the 
effect of making some parts of MythTV extremely slow.  I don't know if 
that's still the case, but you really need to have a properly-configured 
system before you can tell what's happening.

So, either remove the channel icon information for that channel, or put 
a channel icon (or any picture) at 
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/channels/bbc_one_oxford.jpg .
