For a hobby project, I've installed mysql-win32 on Win95.
I would like to learn about using perl's DBI module.
I can't find a binary DBD module for mysql-win32. I am using build 509
of the ActiveState perl. I have the cygwin compiler (B20 version), but I
get make errors while trying to compile the module.
I've scoured dejanews and other places for some hints, but I'm not
getting very far.
Is there any hope of getting the mysql driver working (DBD), or should I
use the ODBC driver? What are the steps? Can I do it with cygwin's
compiler?
I know there is a perl download at the tcx.se site with these module
compiled, but I don't want to replace the ActiveState build.
Or should I learn about JDBC instead?
PS I'll use Linux in a few months, but it is interesting to me to have a
Windows solution.
regards,
Tim Richardson
