Did you restarted the system and the server along with mysqladmin ?

STEPS :
1. Download the following files from
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-myodbc.html
- MyODBC 2.50.37 for NT/2000 (full setup)
- MyODBC 2.50.37 Windows95/98 and NT/2000 (only myodbc.dll and myodbc2.dll)

First install Fullsetup and then install/copy the second archive files to
the specified directory. Please read the following link for more details
about the intsallation.
