Hi there,

Since I am a newbie to linux please excuse me if it is simple problem. I
have downloaded the rpm files for MySQL 3.22.32. However as I try to install
the s/w using the following

#rpm --install MySQL-3.22.32-1.i386.rpm

I get error message

"error: MySQL-3.22.32-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed"




Then I try to install the source distribution. No luck either. As I try to
unpack the tar file by

#gunzip < MySQL-3.22.32.tar.gz | tar xvf -

as instructed in "quick installion overivew". I get error message

"gunzip: stdin: invalid compressed data::crc error
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors".

Does it mean that my downloaded compressed file is bad? However, if I can
uncompress the same gz file, in NT box using winzip.
Does it mean that I should get MySQL-3.22.32-1.i586.rpm iso ...i386.rpm.

Please help.
