Hi,
hereby the cut&paste of note 405827:
1. A "journaling file system" reduces the runtime of a file system check,
for example, after the partition was not properly unmounted. However, only
changes to the metadata are logged. Therefore, after a system crashes, no
guarantee can be made that the contents of the data blocks for a file are
correct. For this reason, a journaling file system is not a substitute for
regular backups.
a) "ReiserFS" and "ext3" are both implementations of a "journaling file
system" for Linux.
b) Release for use with SAP applications
Using a "journaling file system" is supported if the Linux distributor and
the database vendor provide support.
Which of the jsf's is supported from SUSE and SAP (SAPDB) ?
Ext3 / reiserfs ?
thanks

We use RAW devices for the Database and ReiserFS for the filesystem (except
the /boot partition).
There's also a SAP note (405827) on this :-)
