Subject:    Could not login anymore despite valid license

When I tried to logon last week to WAS (after some months) it said: "no
HW-id received from msg-server" (in the status bar of the SAPGUI). 

It appeared that the ip-adress for this host in the hosts file was
incorrect (it is a multihomed system) so I corrected this.

I req. and installed a new license for this WAS installation today.

Now when I tried to logon it said: license expired. I un- and
reinstalled the license several times in different ways, but 'saplicense
-show' kept saying that is was expired.

Finally I entered the license data manually via 'saplicense -install'.
Now I can login again.

How does this happen?
