Try this:
Rename MFADMIN.exe to MFADMIN.bak or something similiar. 
Then copy MFADMIN.exe off the Citrix CD (its in the \I386 directory) to
where the old MFADMIN.exe was and see if that works.

many thanks to all of you who gave me advice for my problem. The suggestion
was always the same:

I was quite surprised... not having installed SP4 or any hotfixes. In short:
- I don't have the mentioned branch "Hotfix" or the key Q147222 on my
system.
- I now applied SP4 (german) and all the german hotfixes for MF1.8
- And still, the branch "Hotfix" and the key Q147222 don't exist.

However, my problem's still there...

Perhaps it's a problem with the domain controller - does mfadmin send
queries to it? (As I mentioned before, I use a Samba domain controller -
there's no 'real' Microsoft NT PDC in the system.)
Perhaps it's a problem with the Samba PDC implementation (still under
development).

Anybody out there using TSE / MF together with a Samba domain?
