François:

The reason I didn't see how to add Custom Fields at the Blog and Website
level is because I can only see these System Objects as choices when I am
creating Custom Fields at the System Overview level.

I expected to be able to create Blog and Website Custom Fields when I was
inside of the Blog or Website where I wished the Custom Fields to appear.

Thanks for your help,

Hi François:

OK, glad we agree that this is a reasonable approach.

Here's another question.

Is MT6 supposed to allow Custom Fields at the Website and Blog level?

Yes.

The reason I ask is because the Custom Field Overview documentation,
https://movabletype.org/documentation/professional/custom-fields/overview.html,
says that we can extend Blogs and Websites with Custom Fields. But when I
try to create a custom field at the website level, the System Object menu
doesn't have a "Website" choice.

Strange, mine does (sorry, it's in French, but you should get what « Site
web » means ;-):

What am I missing?

I don't know, sorry!

Hi Fellow MT Developers:

I built an MT6 theme for one of my clients that was originally intended to
be specific to one business. Due to the success of the theme, it's now
being picked up by other businesses owned by the same client.

Here's an example of a problem that is occurring because the theme is being
applied to multiple websites:

The theme contains a Site Footer template module. That template module is
defined in the theme, and it currently contains the name, address, phone
number, etc. for the business that originally commissioned the theme.

Now we need to have the business address information published in the Site
Footer be different based on the site which is being published with the
theme. I think this means that the business address information has to
persist across multiple reapplications of the theme to the website. This is
because the theme is being updated regularly, and we do not want to have to
re-enter the business address information into the Site Footer each time
the theme is reapplied.

Is the best way to do this to create Custom Fields and have the Site Footer
template module grab its contents from those Custom Fields, instead of
having that information coded directly into the Site Footer in the theme?

Thanks,
