-w is a GNU make parameter. If "make" complains about this even when then I 
assume that a makefile somewhere is explicitly invoking the Solaris make. I 
saw this sort of behaviour with X11R6. 

I have no problems with building mSQL, but I do have GNU make installed in 
/usr/local/bin/make.
