Samsung Electronics Tuesday took the wraps off a mobile phone that can
shoot and store up to 30 minutes of video. The new SPH-V3000 will be
offered by Korea Telecom Freetel with its wireless Internet service. A
real-time streaming format enables the user to view regular or cable TV
broadcasts.
The camcorder phone features a 262,000-color display with three
adjustable sizes (two when in recording mode), a 110,000-pixel CMOS
camera and multimedia messaging service (MMS) support. Up to 200 still
images can be stored in the memory.
Samsung predicts that camcorder phones will make up 10 to 15 percent of
the Korean mobile phone market this year. The company said it plans to
expand its camcorder phone line this year to include models with
external 256-color organic electro-luminescence displays and models that
can be used for videoconferencing.
