Rich,

Removing the player is different on various versions of the OS. You can
uninstall using Add/Remove Programs on Windows 98 and 2000. You need to
use System Restore on Windows Me and XP. Details on all of this are in
the Release
<http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player/relnotes.a
sp> Notes.

If you're on Windows XP or Me, System Restore "should" already be turned
on and Windows Media Player 9 Series automatically creates a restore
point when it's installed. So you may be able to remove it without much
trouble. If you turned off System Restore somewhere along the way or it
was never turned on when you upgraded your OS, then you can get back to
the old player by doing an OS Repair. This will install Windows XP (or
Me) over the current installation. You'll need to reinstall any
security patches and other system updates that you had installed before,
but that can be done by one visit to Windows Update.

I hope this helps you get your system back to where you want it to be.

Thanks, Ben. This is what I was afraid of!

Dear Microsoft: this version is mostly inconpatible with prior versions

(scripts, captions, etc.) It should not be called version 9, but
something-

else version 1. It is pretty lame to offer a beta with no way to remove

it. I didn't save before the install, so I guess I must reinstall the
OS.

Wow.
