FYI: If NetShow provided support for IEEE 1394-based cameras, these
parameters are adjustable using the standard 1394 AV/C command set. It also
allows the commands to work across product lines since the values are
standardized and defined as part of the technical specifications for 1394
cameras.

One solution I have not heard mentioned yet is using a video camera with an
adjustable scan capability. On some end Hi-8 and Beta cameras, there is a
scan rate adjustment that lets you adjust the vertical scanning frequency of
your camera to match that of the monitor, thereby eliminating the flicker.
Remember to set the camera to daylight balance to get rid of the blue cast
and use only manual focus to eliminate focus wander. Place the camera
about four feet from the monitor and zoom in on the portion of the screen of
interest. Since the camera is on a tripod, you can pan and zoom during
shots. For limited production needs, you can usually rent the camera and
tripod inexpensively. I have used this to advantage in several productions
and it may work well for high bandwidth content.
