Well, okay. This will cause end users considerable grief during
installation, but that may not be too major an issue in a dedicated
application, where the PC is being centrally setup and won't be used for
anything else.

You still have the problem that the system timer granularity will be too
big for your needs. You can call KeQueryTimeIncrement to find out what
this is, but I don't know of a way to change it.
