We are sometimes facing the following problem from XP clients :

When an XP client tries to read a JPG file from a shared resource ( the
shared resource is using proprietary Cifs server solution ),it occurs that
some XP clients hangs with no displayed message at all , while others do
not while trying to read the same file . If we disable the archive attribute
, or the read-only attribute on the file that causes the hanging , then the
same XP client could successfully read the file with no hanging . If we
compare the capture between 2 different XP clients , we have also seen that
the Hanging XP client is allways asking for "extended attributes".

My questions are :
- What is the reason XP client is hanging ?
- when does XP client ask for extended attributes? Is it related to some
registry keys settings ?

Any explanation is welcome .
Thanks
