Hi,
I had a Certificate from Microsoft Certificate Server on my machine, and I
noticed some entires generated in the Registries:
a.- The certificate is deposited in "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\System
Certificates\MY\Certificate"
b.-An entry "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\System Certificates\MY\Keys" is created
and a Key(???!!!) is deposited here (my question is about this Key)
c.-The user keys are deposited in the container
"HKCU\Software\Cryptography\UserKeys"
After deleting the entry:"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\System
Certificates\MY\Keys" I was able to sign a certificate with CAPI, and the
signature was successfully verified.
Also, after deleting the entry:"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\System
Certificates\MY\Keys" I still can see this certificate with IExplorer.
I did the same test usign a thawte certificate and I got the same results.
MY QUESTION:
Does anyone know what for is the value of HKCU\Software\Microsoft\System
Certificates\MY\Keys used?
Can I just ignore it and take care only of a) and c) stuff.
Thank you very much,
Daniela
