Outlook 98 supports Microsoft Exchange secure email and S/MIME secure email.
The Exchange CSP is used to support the Exchange secure email features and
functionality. Outlook 98 will use the default RSA CSP, or other 3rd party
CSPs, for S/MIME.

Information on recommended Certificate profiles can be found by going to
http://www.microsoft.com/security and following the link "Tips for public
CAs" in the left hand pane.

Subject: CAPI and Outlook 98

Outlook 98 installs a new CAPI CSP called
Microsoft Exchange Cryptographic Provider v1.0
and registers it as a TYPE 005 provider.
Questions:

1) What does Outlook 98 use this for?
2) Will Outlook 98 use the TYPE 001 default provider
when signing/encrypting with an RSA key pair/cert?

Related question: what type of cert is required for
x509v3 SSL client authentication (as with IIS 4)?
Will a standard RSA key cert be fine? What key usage
extensions must be specified? Thanks.
