I tried to look for the archives using the link at the bottom of all the CAPI emails, \
but the CAPI archive doesn't seem to be there. Does anyone know where the archives \
have gone. If so, can the listserv be modified to put the new link into all the \
emails?

Now, on to the problem.

Consider all possible platforms consisting of WindowsNT4, Win95B, Win95A and \
Win950(the original OEM version) combined with IE4 final (4.71.1712.6) or IE4.01 \
(4.72.somethingorother). I create a digital signature with CryptSignMessage() on any \
of these platforms; the signature is immediately verifiable using \
CryptVerifyMessageSignature() in the same process that just created the signature. \
Further, I can save the signature to disk. With one exception, a signature created \
on any of the platforms can be verified successfully on any other platform. The \
exception is signatures created with the combination of IE4 final (4.71.1712.6) and \
Windows 950. These signatures cannot be loaded from disk and verified under any \
platform including the one on which it was generated. If I use IE4 final under any \
other platform to create the signature, it verifies on every other platform including \
Win950/IE4 final. Further, if I create the signature with Win950 and IE4.01, the \
signature verifies on all platforms.

Is this a known CAPI problem fixed by IE4.01?
Why does the signature verify if I call CryptVerifyMessageSignature under the same \
process that created the signature? Again, I would've checked the archives, but I \
can't find them.

Thank you,
John Boyer
