Dear all,

I have a software that takes as input a video from a
Video4Linux device (such as a webcam). But instead,
I'd like to feed my software with a movie file. How
can I convince MPlayer to read my movie file and make
it available as a V4L device.

I found an old patch for MPlayer-0.90pre6 but it is
unfortunately not maintained :

It could be used in combination with the kernel module
vloopback (working fine with kernel 2.6.11)

Note that I was able to find the source of
MPlayer-0.90pre6 on internet. I could apply the patch
succesfully but it then failed at compilation :(
