Hi,

I have browsed the mailing list before I sent this email, and didn't find an
answer for this:

Machine: Athlon 800 Mhz (not overclocked), Redhat 7.1 (gcc 2.96-81)..

I have replaced the nasm, as I've read here on the mailing list, grabbed lame
from CVS and tried to compile...

Here is a snip of the error:

util.h:138:17: warning: C++ style comments are not allowed in ISO C89

Suggestions?

And regarding the debate here about Redhat's and their GCC move - I'm sorry,
but I completly agree with Redhat's position. You haven't tried GCC 2.95 with
machines like Alpha or Sparc to see how pathetic it is, compared to CCC
(Compaq C compiler) for example. The GCC development speed is twice as slower
then mozilla's for example.

So yes, they did took a snapshot - but now I see on my X86 at least a 10%
faster binary then with gcc 2.95. No wonder Mandrake 8 included this gcc
also..

Of course - this is just my humble opinion. I Really wouldn't like to piss
anyone here...

Thanks,
Hetz
