Then we should find some other way of tapping into the makefile
variables. I wouldn't want to see the benefits undermined by the cost of
having to pore over diffs after every update to check for the new
headers or other src files, new DEFINES etc. cropping up all the time.

While you're at it, there's also a gargantuan V4 fixpak you might want
to grab.
