Yes, it does.  It works "better" when you don't have the Flash plugin, 
because then you get a nice "you don't have the codec" message.

It's a shame that a lot of sites are choosing to use a patent-encumbered 
codec, but it's certainly understandable.  It allows them to fall back 
on Flash very easily.
