Arthur,

Temporary solution: change the font for Western. This works for Hebrew,
too.
(to do that, you can edit the file bin\defaults\pref\winpref.js. Note
that only the "western" section seems to work:

pref("font.name.serif.x-western", "Times New Roman");
pref("font.name.sans-serif.x-western", "Arial");
pref("font.name.monospace.x-western", "Courier New");
pref("font.name.cursive.x-western", "Comic Sans MS");
