I think the best answer is "when it's done".

The widespread release of R4/Intel should allow more developers to
actually work on the source.  Right now we're limited to the small number
of developers who have betas of R4 and are on Intel hardware.

After R4 is widespread, and the holiday season passes, I expect another
burst of progress.

Keep a close eye on the bezilla website.  I personally hope to have
screenshots documenting the progress of the work.
