It works for me in Mono1.1.7 in windows (I copied the code from the web 
page: 
http://shootout.alioth.debian.org/great/benchmark.php?test=tcprequest&lang=csharp&id=0&sort=fullcpu
).

The result for N=10 is: replies: 1000 bytes: 4096000, as it says in the web 
page it should be.

In fact, there is a warning compiling but not the one that says there.
