correct. the "duration" is meant to be an indication of how long
fping.monitor spent doing its thing for that particular invocation.

correct. this yields the duration of the failure for the service. it is
written only when a service starts working again after failing.

if you want the alert to report this, then you can have the alert program
refer to the "MON_LAST_FAILURE" and "MON_LAST_SUCCESS" environment
variables.
