How about as part of a hosted development environment?  I'd much rather
be developing in a chroot that is also an NFS root for my development
platform, and have my rebuilt driver, library, app, etc. available
immediately for test, than have to build-repack-flash-reboot every time
I update something.

Embedded habits die hard, I suppose. ;)
