I got the mplayer.sh script from VDR working with mms, just needed to make 
some modifications to the mms config file:

mplayeropts =
mplayer_path = /work/mplayer.sh
audio_mode_5d =

I also had to put

SLAVE=""

to vdrmplayer.sh.conf to be able to control MPlayer with keyboard.

For some reason, I can't get AC3 pass-through output to work (no sound, no 
error messages) and also the "vibrating picture" problem occurs. But these 
problems are not mms related because they also appear when using the 
mplayer.sh script standalone.
