Here's part two of the mksh size comparisions. The current version
of pcc can build mksh R36 except the __typeof__ macro, so we don't
need to use HAVE_EXPSTMT=0 that prevents some code inlining, which
let mksh-current/normal/pcc appear bigger than mksh-36/normal/pcc.

text data bss dec hex filename
 187052 1032 20032 208116 32cf4 mksh36/norm/mksh
 187008 1032 20032 208072 32cc8 mkshcur/norm/mksh
 160857 936 7424 169217 29501 mksh36/small/mksh
 160613 936 7424 168973 2940d mkshcur/small/mksh

As you can see, mksh-current is in all respects smaller than R36.

Sometimes they [people] care too much: pretty printers [and syntax highligh-
ting, d.A.] mechanically produce pretty output that accentuates irrelevant
detail in the program, which is as sensible as putting all the prepositions
in English text in bold font.	-- Rob Pike in "Notes on Programming in C"
