The syntax is:

mgd_auth_midgard(username, password[, sendcookie])

The last optional parameter is a boolean that governs whether a cookie
authorization cookie gets sent or not. When omitted it defaults to true.
If you don't send a cookie or force http-auth the user id change wil only
be effective for the current page visit.

For this to work you'll have to create a midgard user for each visitor you
want to offer this service. It is possible to let people create their own
accounts, a message on that has just been posted.

Another way to keep state for your visitors is to use normal cookies with
the usual PHP functions. This does not require user records for your
visitor but will not travel with your visitors if they visit using another
browser and/or computer.

There are RTF, plain text and HTML versions available at
http://www.midgard-project.org/~emiliano/. These are updated every night.
