Hi,

Please excuse asking a silly question, but what _is_ Midgard,
actually? I'm a relatively experienced webmaster (having worked in
this field for some six years now), I use MySQL and PHP/PHPLib a
lot, and then a couple of days ago I installed this new Mandrake
release (6.1) on my home computer and found a nice installation of
Apache, PHP, and that thing whose name I ran across a few times
before, but which I otherwise know nothing about :)

I found a skeleton of function reference at the project's website,
as well as some installation hints and general information, but
still I have only a vague idea of what goes on when I use it, or how
to start a Midgard-based project. From the information in FAQ
(mainly the URI mapping section) I conclude it's an Apache module,
and a set of patches (function definitions?) for PHP3. Could someone
please post three paragraphs of an overview of the mechanism and,
ideally, a link to some information of how to start a project?

Thanks for your patience,
