The Slave code writes some files to the configured work_dir. The default is 'work' in \
the current working directory. The result is that the tests can scribble 'work' \
directories in bunch of places (especially for the external tests, which can change \
current working directory), and there are some test output directories which aren't \
cleaned up by 'make clean'.
