#rpmbuild -bp kernel-adaptation-medfield.spec  returns an exit status of 0 

So it doesn't look like it is an issue with using rpmbuild, it looks like its  might \
be specific to the kernel-adaption-intel-automotive...

I haven't tried with other kernels...
