I'd be interested to hear other reports from Mason users who have had
problems with PHP and mod_perl in the same Apache.  For reference,
here's the way my last PHP build is included below.  No known problems
with this configuration in which PHP builds its own mysql driver.

    ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/php --with-apache=../apache_1.3.19
    --with-config-file-path=/usr/local/php/lib --enable-safe-mode
    --with-exec-dir=/usr/local/php/safe-bin --enable-track-vars
    --enable-rpath=no --enable-xml=no --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql
    --with-curl=no --with-db3=/usr/local --enable-trans-side
