I use KDE's Kate, which also has a Mason highlight mode which works 
quite ok. Also, when looking at the source of a page with konqueror, it 
open a new tab in the same editor. Kate also works on any underlying 
protocol which KDE supports, and I have used it over non-anonymous FTP, 
SSH and sort of "regular" file-systems (NFS, Samba and ext2).
