In addition to Steve and Gordon's comments, you might want to consider how you are \
storing the data.  This is another reason why one of the true databases (SQL Server, \
Oracle, MySQL, etc) would be helpful.  They have builtin functions to do as you \
describe.  You could get your point from Mapguide, query the database directly to \
find out the polygon it is in, then display the results in Mapguide.

Like Gordon said, there is not an out of the box function.  If you are new to MGOS, I \
would recommend reading through the developer's guide, Chapter 4 (Querying Feature \
Data) and Chapter 6 (Analyzing Features>Temporary Feature Sources and Creating a \
Buffer).  While the buffer may not be exactly what you want to do, it may be a \
starting place.  Also, the samples (php or .net) that you can download may be a good \
starting point for what you want to do (also referenced in the developer's guide).    \
