You can do "LANGUAGE=ar LC_ALL=ar drakclock"

As for the non joining; it is because Thierry tried it without suitable
fonts (fonts-ttf-arabic has to be installed, or you have to manually
install a nice arabic font; then it will display nicely);
so there was only one bug in fact; and it has been fixed now.
