description:
I just updated from 2005LE to 2006B3, and immediately discovered this problem.
My system would freeze after X11 had been up for anywhere from 0-120 seconds. No
helpful information seemed to be recorded by the logging mechanisms.

I tried running my old vanilla self-compiled kernel 2.6.12.5 to see if that
would make a difference. It did not. I tried starting X11 from root instead of
my user account, and the freeze happened during X11 coming up. I tried updating
from B3's 6.9-0.cvs20050810.6mdk to 6.9-0.cvs20050824.1 but the problem remained.

I've temporarily fixed the issue by rebuilding xorg 6.8.2-7.1.102mdk from the
src.rpm and replacing the 6.9-0cvs. I had to downgrade gcc back to 3.4.3 to do
this as it wouldn't compile with gcc-4.0.1.

I'm running on an IBM T42p laptop -- model 2373-C96. That's 2.1GHz Pentium-M,
2gig RAM, Cisco Wireless, Radeon FireGL T2.
