strace of glxinfo (interrupted after a while because the process "freezes")

strace of glxinfo (interrupted after a while because the process "freezes").
in ps, the process appears as:
jice     10629  0.5  0.4  15416  3332 pts/0    S+   23:41   0:00 glxinfo

when running the strace command, I get the following output:
[jice@jice ~]$ strace -o /tmp/glxinfo.strace glxinfo
umovestr: Input/output error
ptrace: umoven: Input/output error
name of display: :0.0
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x25
... and the other warnings (see my first comment)
I don't know what these i/o errors are.

DRI is enabled in Xorg (see Xorg.0.log to be attached).

Every 3D application freeze (be it with a normal user or root).
This is very annoying for critical applications I use all day long (such as games ;-)

For example, glxinfo says:

then the process freezes (see strace to be attached).

All the glxdemos freeze the same way, like glxdemo, glxgears... Same thing for gltron, the 
unforgettable kiki, s.o.
