------- Comment #5 from ndeb@ece.cmu.edu 2006-10-08 03:36 -------
Exact same problem has been observed with LM2007 final on the same machine.
After the OS installation was complete, I rebooted the machine and the boot
process got hung at USB drive detection. The kernel log also showed some IRQ
conflicts like ->
IRQ routing conflict for ......, have irq 7, want irq 10

description:
I installed mandriva 2007RC2 (sunna) from CD1. The booting kernel is ->
Linux version 2.6.17-5mdvlegacy (rtp@octopus.mandriva.com) (gcc version 4.1.1 20060724
(prerelease) (4.1.1-3mdk)) #1 SMP
It is booting from an external USB 2.0 drive connected to my laptop. During bootup it hangs (as
seen from "dmesg") ->
Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
hub 1-2:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -71)
hub 1-2:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -71)
hub 1-2:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -71)
hub 1-2:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -71)
usb 5-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
usb 5-6: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
scsi2 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
USB Mass Storage support registered.
usb-storage: device found at 4
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
hub 3-1:1.0: USB hub found
hub 3-1:1.0: 4 ports detected
usb 1-2: USB disconnect, address 2
At this point it stays hung and only way out is to reboot (ctrl-alt-del).
If I boot the kernel with the parameter "noapic" then it boots fine.
On the same hardware 2.6.12-25mdksmp (LM2006) boots fine with APIC.
