I'm sorry, I meant, what is the _contents_ of your kscdrc. Mine fresh created
one is:
[GENERAL]
CDDevice=/dev/cdrom

whereas after I manually select a sound device it is:
[GENERAL]
AudioSystem=arts
CDDevice=/dev/cdrom

I guess, I really should look at the code to see how it can fail, but atm there
is my own bugs to take care of. And a kde team person should at least have
looked into this a while ago.

like this) with : system:/media/hdc (or hdX off course)

but the good way is :
 media:/hdc 

(or hdX..)
