Then why do you keep it in the source rpm ?

rpmlint has a warning to avoid this, as keeping not applied patchs :
- is a waste of disk space and bandwidth, of cpu and upload processing time
- lead to complexity and unreadability in spec files, and so render them less 
maintenable
- lead to this kind of problem when trying to understand what is going on and 
when people try to help.
