Sorry, I didn't want to insult anybody.

See the snapshot in the attachment (I assume it is wrong) Sorry, I'm not admin
of the ldap server, I just want to run my own client. Our admin installed a new
ldap server (we had a nis server before) and since then there are some problems
;-) Most of our clients are running suse10.0 (or suse8.2) and both do work with
the server, but I don't want to use suse and tried mandriva10.2 and 2006.0 and
even fedoracore5 ;-) and failed. I have to admit that I'm not an expert but I
usually am able to solve these kind of problems.

description:
I tried to install a mandriva 2006 client using ldap for "everything"
(authentification, automount maps ...) but the automounter does not work. In
addition the lap config-files are incomplete (see bug #21762). The whole ldap
configuration seems not to be tested at all ;-) I switched back to "mandriva
2005 limited ed".
The error is probably located in the /etc/init.d/autofs script in the function
getmounts. The script generates wrong automount commands which contain
parameters for yp AND ldap, but ONLY ldap should be there (our admin found a
similar error in the debian autofs script).
Example (wrong):
> /etc/init.d/autofs status
Konfigurierte Einhängepunkte:
------------------------
/usr/sbin/automount --timeout=60 /home yp ldap
nisMapName=auto.home,ou=automounts,dc=i9,dc=informatik,dc=uni-erlangen,dc=de
The correct version should be:
/usr/sbin/automount --timeout=60 /home ldap
nisMapName=auto.home,ou=automounts,dc=i9,dc=informatik,dc=uni-erlangen,dc=de
After patching the autofs script the boot process took extraordinarily long. It
took about 2 or 3 minutes to "mount sysfs as /sys" and to start udev. This could
be due to another bug, but it seems to be related, since it only occurs when
using ldap, it did not occur with a "nis for everything" setup. I switched back
to "2005 limited edition" for the moment which has the same autofs-script bug,
but it works when patched and has no problem with the udev start during the boot
process.
