With the current version (from drakxtools-newt-10.2-16mdk), once you've 
selected some ports to be opened, a string beginning with "SCALAR(0x..." 
appears in the "Other ports" field. When trying to validate the new choices by 
clicking "ok", an error message is displayed, which relates to the 
"SCALAR(0x..." string.
