------- Additional Comments From sbenedict@mandrakesoft.com 2005-02-28 23:59 -------
I'm not really prepared to re-write ALSA's OSS emulation layer. Probably a
request for upstream. I was considering rebuilding with the ALSA support as
mentioned in the wiki, but it needs portaudio v19, and cooker is still at v18.
I'll leave open as assigned so it's not forgotten.

description:
I own a creative SB Live and I tried to use audacity to record multiple tracks.
The first track always plays correctly, but the second is distorted when playing
both tracks at the same time.

I noticed that audacity is compiled without alsa support so it is using the OSS
emulation layer of ALSA which is buggy according to audacity wiki :
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.pl?LinuxIssues

The last comment here seems related to my problem :
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.pl?PlaYingTrackWhileRecording

So to solve this issue, I think either the OSS emulation layer should be
rewritten and fixed or audacity recompiled with alsa support.
