Clam has been recently updated to 0.81, which unfortunately breaks with a
significant number of transparent proxys and caching servers due to it being
intolerant of HTTP/1.0 answers to HTTP/1.1 requests.

The discussion of this is in the URL linked, including packet dumps and a patch
to fix.

The current version in CVS *does* work, at least in my situation
