      Distribution: Cooker
Summary: Cannot read SATA disks in raid 0
           Product: Installation
           Version: Mandrakelinux 10.1 Official
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
         Component: hardware
        AssignedTo: install@mandrakesoft.com
        ReportedBy: stein.aske@lyse.net

Hardware: NVidia nForce 3 Ultra Chipset based MSI K8N Neo2-54G
          AMD Athlon64 3500MHz
          1GB Ram
2 * WD Raptor 36.7GB SATA Disks in raid 0
          2 * WD 120GB IDE disks
          1 DVD-Burner
          1 CD-Burner

[ Im a linux noob, so please bear with me ]
Symptoms: During installation, just before the part where ones supposed to
partition the drives with the help of diskdruid, I get an errormessage whitch
states that Mandrake has problems reading the Sata disks in raid 0 and Mandrake
asks me if i want to clear those partitions. Now I know these disks are in great
shape because they contain my windows install, and it boots just fine... and the
raidutility states that the arrys "healty". Now, I diddnt want to lose my
windows partitions, so I chose not to clear the partitions. I then chose to
partition drives maually with the help of diskdruid. To my amazement diskdruid
reported one of my Sata disks as a 70GB disk and the other as a 36.7, but
diskdruid diddnt show my two IDE drives.

Another problem with the installation occured during detection of my USB mouse (
Razer Diamondback ). The process just hangs when trying to detect devices
connected via usb when the mouse is plugged in. I tried to restarted the
installation and chose to view the stdio outputs, and it showed something about
detecting usb device and an large negative integer. There diddnt seem to be any
error messages.

Action: I diddnt want to tamper too much, so I aborted the installationprocess.
