description:
This problem also showed up in older versions that I tried (9.2, 10beta2);
basically, if the module snd-usb-audio gets loaded -- which it does if one has a
webcam with a mic -- the pci soundcard (audigy) module doesn't get loaded, so no
sound.

Loading the audio module by hand
modprobe emu10k1
doesn't help (enough), the misers show up in kmix, but mplayer and xmms for
instance can't use them.

What helps is to put snd-usb-audio in the /etc/hotplug/blacklist file; didn't
try yet if it can be loaded later / after the emu10k1 module, so that everything
still works...
